ABOUT ME
Alejandra Laveaga is a Mexican composer and sound engineer born in the picturesque town of Mazatlán, Sinaloa, by the Pacific Ocean. From the age of six, she developed a passion for music and writing, beginning her journey with classical piano. By sixteen, she had composed a collection of 12 piano pieces, which she compiled into her first album titled Materia Gris.
Alejandra moved to Mexico City to pursue an undergraduate degree in music production and audio engineering with Monterrey Institute of Technology and Higher Education. During her studies, she furthered her passion for writing by contributing to Noiselab, a digital music journalism magazine with a focus on the influence of post-punk, krautrock, and synth-pop on the electronic music scene in Mexico City, where she lived for 10 years.
After graduating, she joined MCO Studios for 4 years, a leading facility in scoring and audio-postproduction, where she developed a passion for the interplay between music and the entertainment industry, particularly film, TV and advertising. She delved into music supervision and sound design, discovering a fulfilling way to integrate what she loves with the collaborative efforts of working alongside directors, producers, composers, sound designers, and mixing engineers. Her interest in the collaborative and economic aspects of music led her to study a Master of Arts in Music Business with Berklee College of Music (2020) aiming to understand the ways in which artists can support each other in building sustainable careers. This goal also fueled her passion for education, prompting her to create a series of master classes on her thesis about music royalties and to begin working as a remote adjunct professor at Anahuac University.
In 2022, Alejandra relocated to Miami to further pursue her passion for music, enrolling in a one-year intensive advanced program in music production and sound engineering at the Abbey Road Institute. Concurrently, she launched her music project Digitalita, with the release of her first EP, Fall Season (2022).
Today, Alejandra Laveaga is the founder of two partner companies: Patch&Bay, specializing in music supervision and production, and Speakeasy, a boutique audio post-production studio. With these ventures, she consolidates her extensive experience in content post-production, creating soundscapes that captivate audiences worldwide.
